About City

Munich is the capital and largest city of the German state of Bavaria, and is about an hour and a half drive from the Alps. Munich is the third largest city in Germany after Berlin and Hamburg and the 12th biggest city of the European Union with a population of above 1.5 million. The river Isar flows through the city and it is generally a very green place.
Munich is Germany's lifestyle and high-tech capital with many international companies choosing to have their European headquarters here. The city is a major centre of art, advanced technologies, national and international authorities, finance, publishing, culture, innovation, education, business, and tourism in Germany and Europe and enjoys a very high standard and quality of living. According to the Globalization and World Rankings Research Institute Munich is considered an alpha-world city. It can be considered as a suitable medium for the relocation of valuable knowledge about research and novel advancements worldwide. The conferences taking part here would promote a variety of scientific ideas among contenders belonging to diverse areas of science and technology. They serve as a major centre of attraction for reputed and highly affiliated global scientific leaders and provide an opportunity of conversing the various research highlights at an international podium.
Like many cities, Munich started out as a small town enclosed by a wall and then expanded beyond it. The 'inner city' occupies such a small area that everything is close and easy to visit, and you'll get a sense of the original wall, indeed, the gates still remain. Munich is very close to Austria, Switzerland and after a short hop through Austria, also Italy. Under an hour drive away to the south (with train connections too of course) are the lakes which is where many Muncheners head for during the summer months. These are glacial lakes, and therefore deep and cold till well into summer. There's simply everything on offer at the city's famous food market – from traditional Bavarian specialities to exotic delicacies. Germany’s festival  Oktoberfest attract considerable tourism as well.
